Girls Cross Country Advances to Sectionals A second place finish at the Moline class-AA regional on October 22 was good enough to earn the Sterling Girls Cross Country a spot in sectionals on October 29. Sterling tallied 94 points, 23 behind regional champ East Moline. The top five teams qualified for sectionals. Senior Megan Fliss was once again the anchor for the Golden Warriors, placing third individually in a time 18:31 – 19-seconds better than her conference finish the week prior. Rounding out the top-five finishers for Sterling were junior Jaclyn Sciacero (14 th, 19:48), senior Kayla Jacobs (24 th, 20:16), junior Devon Carbaugh (25 th, 20:16), and freshman Kelsey Scanlan (28 th, 20:23). Sterling now heads to the East Peoria Sectional on October 29. The Warriors are vying for a return trip to the state meet after qualifying in 2003 but missing out last season. The top five teams move on to state at Detweiller Park in Peoria on November 5.
