Boys Cross Country Fourth at NCIC

Slowed by an injury to junior standout Sam Megli, the Sterling Boys Cross Country team still battled its way into a 4 th place finish at the NCIC Championship held on October 15 at Centennial Park in Rock Falls.

Sterling totaled 105 points. Geneseo was first with 49 – followed by Princeton with 72 and Dixon with 82.

Junior Drew Rowe was Sterling’s top finisher in 15 th place in a time of 16:57. Rowe was followed closely by junior Tim Noll in 16 th place ( 16:59). Megli battled through an ankle injury to finish 19 th in 17:19, while senior captain Tyler Zoeller was 25 th in a time of 17:27. Junior Dane Styczynski (30 th, 17:35), sophomore Ryan Dietz (36 th, 17:46) and sophomore Ben Schott (38 th, 17:50) rounded out the Warrior lineup.

Sterling now begins the IHSA post-season series this Saturday at the Moline class-AA Regional.
