Girls Basketball: Warriors Rout Streator on Senior Night Paige Lobdell and McKenna Pearson both recorded new career highs in points scored, and Aleena Hammelman returned from her injury and helped spark the SHS Girls’ Basketball team to a 78-20 win over Streator on Senior Night Friday at Musgrove Fieldhouse. Lobdell paced Sterling (14-14, 5-4 NIB-12 West) with 14 points. Pearson scored all 11 of her points in the second half. Ashli King scored 10 points, to go along with six rebounds and seven steals. In all, 11 different Golden Warriors scored in the game. Hammelman returned to the court exactly one month after breaking her fibula in a game against Sycamore. She was able to start and play just a couple of minutes , while scoring four points. The SHS coaching staff hopes Hammelman will be back to full strength in time for the regional opener February 15 against Sycamore. Sterling’s defense held Streator (0-22, 0-9) to 21% shooting and forced 37 turnovers – 23 coming by steal. |
