Boys Basketball: Warriors Rout Morrison The SHS Boys’ Basketball team had no problem rolling past an over-matched Morrison Mustang squad 61-27 in the second round of the Sauk Valley Thanksgiving Classic Tuesday at Musgrove Fieldhouse. Morrison has a number of its players still on the football field as the Mustangs will be playing for the 2A state championship Friday in Champaign. Sterling led 24-10 after the first quarter, 43-16 at halftime and 61-21 after three, launching the running clock in the fourth quarter. Chris Fritsch paced Sterling with 16 points and five rebounds. Jose Knox scored 12 on 4-4 three-point shooting. Jordan Neal and Alejandro Rivera added eight points apiece. Sterling also won the sophomore contest 55-23. Next Up: The Golden Warriors (2-0) host Princeton (1-1) in the third round of the tournament Wednesday at 8:00. Sterling then plays host to Dixon Friday at 6:30, and Rock Falls Saturday at 8:00. |
