Girls Bowling: Warriors Knock off UT on Senior Night The SHS Girls’ Bowling team celebrated senior night at closed out the regular season with a 2747-2596 win over United Township Thursday at Blackhawk Lanes. SHS Coach Dennis Black provides a recap: “For the first time this season when a match was in question, we responded. We bowled okay games of 888 and 896, but lead by only 17 pins with the final game to go. UT’s Kayla Crawford had bowled a 278 to bring the match into question, but no one on Sterling's squad had asserted herself. However, in game three we bowled a 963 to pull away and win the match by 151 pins. Heather Wolf led the charge with a 258 game and a 655 series. Amber Granzow bowled a 580 series (197,191,192). Katie Sivits finished her Senior Night with a solid 529 series. Destinee Howard, despite an open wound on her bowing thumb, had a 524 series. I hope this will be the incentive for them to have high standards in their bowling game Saturday at the Galesburg Sectional.” Sterling finished 10-2 in duel meets this season. Next Up: The Golden Warriors try to qualify for the IHSA state finals for the second straight season competing at the Galesburg Sectional Saturday. Action begins at 9:45 a.m. |
