Boys Track: Schneiderbauer, 4x800 Relay Earn State Medals The SHS Boys Track and Field team earned a total of five medals at the IHSA 2A State Track and Field Meet Saturday in Charleston. Leading the way was senior Mike Schneiderbauer, who picked up a fifth place medal in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.78. Schneiderbaur earned his spot in the finals with a time of 14.86 in Friday’s prelims. Sterling’s other four medals were earned by the 4x800 relay of Dylan Harkness, Aaron Brenner, Patrick Petrosky and Alejandro Rivera. The team just squeezed into the finals with a 12th place finish in the prelims Friday with a time of 8:01.02, and despite running a slower time in extremely hot conditions Saturday (8:02.52), they improved five places to earn seventh place medals. Harkness also qualified for the finals on the 1600 run, but just missed out in earning a medal. The top nine finishers earned medals, and Harkness placed 11th with a time of 4:30.39. The ninth place time was 4:25.93. |
