Boys Track:  Warriors Place 6th at Northern Illinois Invite

The SHS Boys’ Track and Field team placed 6th at the 12-team Northern Illinois Invitational at Hononegah High School Friday.  The Golden Warriors tallied 72 points.  United Township won the meet with 129, nine better than second place Harlem.

Senior Mike Schneiderbauer had another big night for the Golden Warriors, winning one event and finishing second in two others.  He claimed top honors in the 110 hurdles (15.18), and was just edged out by Damon Overton of UT in the 300 hurdles, taking second in a time of 40.46.  Schneiderbauer also claimed second in the pole vault (13-6).

Other performances of note for the Warriors included Alejandro Rivera placing third in the 400(51.03), Josh Landis was fourth in the 3200 (10:30.37) and Cornell Hartz was fourth in the long jump (20-9).

Sterling’s 4x400 relay team of Hartz, Rivera, Eduardo Blancas and Alex Rodriguez placed fourth (3:33.47.)

Next Up:  The Golden Warriors compete at the Rochelle JV Invite Monday (5/7), before competing in the NIB-12 Track and Field Championships Friday in DeKalb.
