Cross Country:  Warriors Run at Peoria Invite

The SHS Girls’ and Boys Cross Country teams ran at the prestigious Peoria Invitational Saturday at Detweiller Park.  On the girls side, Sterling placed 42nd,while the boys earned a 39th place finish.

The Sterling girls team had the following participants in the varsity race of 319 runners:

SHS Coach Nancy Gehrke: “Six of these girls ran best times of the season (5 best times ever) and continue to work hard and improve.”

The Sterling boys had the following participants in the varsity race of 381 runners:

SHS Coach Nancy Gehrke: “All of the varsity runners with the exception of Dylan (who has been sick all week) ran personal best times on Saturday.  These young men continue to work well together and are adjusting their season goals based upon their successes.”

Next Up:  The Golden Warriors host the 62nd annual Sterling Invitational at Hoover Park Saturday.  Over 1500 runners are expected to participate.  Action begins at 9:00 a.m.
