Cross Country:  Girls 2nd, Boys 3rd in Home Triangular

The SHS Girls’ and Boys’ Cross Country teams finished second and third respectively in a triangular meet with United Township and Moline Tuesday at Hoover Park.

Moline won the girls race with a score of 23, followed by Sterling (50) and United Township (61).  UT took top honors on the boys side with 23 points, followed by Moline (32) and Sterling (77).

Sterling freshman Mercedes Sanchez won the girls race with a time of 19:41.  Josh Landis was first to the finish line for the Sterling boys with a time of 18:03.

Next Up:  On Saturday (10/1), Sterling competes at the Freeport JV Invite, with the varsity squads traveling to the Peoria Invite.
