Football:  Warriors Blast Streator

After a scoreless first quarter, the SHS Football team pulled away for a 49-6 NIB-12 West win at Streator Friday.  Sterling has now beaten Streator eight straight times, and in 27 of the last 30 meetings.

Sterling (5-1, 2-0) totaled 335 yards of total offense and recorded 21 first downs, compared to just 59 yards and six first downs for the Bulldogs (0-6, 0-2).

Alejandro Rivera rushed for 118 yards on just nine carries and scored three touchdowns to pace the Warrior offense.  Marcus Robinson, Treyvon Solis, Cornell Hartz and Gaige Drane also found the end zone for the Warriors.

Sterling also won on the sophomore level 42-15.

Next Up:  Geneseo Week.  The Golden Warriors travel to Geneseo to take on the Maple Leafs October 7.  Both teams are 2-0 in conference play.  Geneseo has eeked out wins over Dixon (24-21) and Ottawa (14-13) the last two weeks.
