Football: Warriors Fall to Moline Game one of the 2011 season did not go well for the SHS Football team. Moline pulled away in the second half of Friday’s game at Roscoe Eades Stadium and handed the Golden Warriors a 21-6 defeat. Moline led 7-0 at halftime, then took the opening kickoff of the second half and marched 80 yards in 14 plays to take a 14-0 lead. The lead grew to 21-0 in the fourth quarter, before a late touchdown from quarterback Dylan Stingley got the Warriors on the board. Sterling moved the ball in the first half, gaining over 150 yards, but could not turn the yards into points. The Warriors’ second drive ended on downs at the Moline three-yard line. Moline then took over and marched 97 yards for the first score of the game. Sterling also lost on the sophomore level 12-0. Next Up: Sterling travels to Chicago Curie next Saturday (9/3) for a non-conference contest against the defending Chicago Public League champs. The sophomore contest kicks off at 5:00 p.m. |
