Track and Field: Warrior Girls and Boys Sweep 5-Team Invite The SHS Girls’ and Boys’ Track and Field teams both took first place in a five team invitational held Tuesday at DuWayne Dietz Track in Sterling. Both squads scored exactly 100 points in their winning efforts. Ottawa was second on the girls’ side with 79.5 points, followed by Rochelle (76.5), DeKalb (67) and LaSalle-Peru (51). Rochelle was second in the boys’ competition with 83 points, followed by LP (74), Ottawa (61) and DeKalb (56). Girls Highlights Mary Francque and Abbie Brenner went 1-2 for the Warriors in the 800, with Francque clocking in at 2:43.56 and Brenner at 2:43.92. Alisa Weir took first place in the shot put (32-0.25). Emily Porter, Thallia Arellano and Sarah Schneiderbauer all recorded second place efforts. Porter in the pole vault (9-0), Arellano in the discus (85-4), and Schneiderbauer in the 300 hurdles (50.07). Sterling also won the 4x800 (10:31.42) and 4x100 (51.62) relays, and finished second in the 4x200 (1:54.01). Boys Highlights Dylan Harkness and Jacob Landis added 14 more points to the Warriors’ total with a 1-2 finish in the 1600. Harkness finished in 4:37.85, and Landis in 4:43.96. Mike Schndeiderbauer had a big night individually with a first place effort in the 300 hurdles (44.38) and second place finishes 110 hurdles (17.15) in the triple jump (38 11.75). Corey Hartz took top honors in the 400 (51.69), while Josh Chromek (pole vault, 11-6) and Brian Commisso (100, 11.98) both recoded second place finishes. Next Up: The girls’ squad competes at the Kaneland Invite Saturday (4/9), while the boys travel to the United Township Invite that same day. |
