Boys Track:  Hartz Ties School Record in 100, Warriors Down LP

Matt Howze held the SHS all-time record in the 100-meter dash all to himself for 31 years.  Now he has a little company.  Golden Warrior senior Corey Hartz tied the record with a time of 10.59 Thursday in the Golden Warriors 102-43 win over LaSalle-Peru at DuWayne Dietz Track.

Howze first set the record in 1980 with a time of 10.6.  Both Howze’s and Hartz’ times were hand-held, so are both officially recorded at 10.6, hence the tie.

The Warriors won 13 of the 18 events last night.

Mike Schneiderbauer continued his strong junior season by winning three events – the triple jump (37-1.25), 110 hurdles (16.10) and 300 hurdles (44.50).

Sterling swept the four relay events.
