Volleyball: Warriors Down Newman

The SHS Volleyball team is now 2-0 after a two-set win over Newman Tuesday at Musgrove Fieldhouse.

In set-one, an 8-0 Sterling run featuring the strong serving of senior Morgan Martells gave Sterling an 11-4 lead. Newman battled back and tied it at 23, before the Warriors tallied the final two points to earn a 25-23 win.

Sterling trailed most of set two, before getting hot late. The Warriors tallied the final eight points to claim a 25-18 win.

Statistically, Morgan Martells and Jennifer Rahn led Sterling in kills with eight and seven respectively. Martells also had four aces and two blocks. Lauren Hernandez had 10 assists and Carly Willman eight digs.
