Boys Soccer: Warriors Shutout Princeton

The SHS Boys’ Soccer team knocked off Princeton 3-0 Tuesday at Roscoe Eades Stadium.

Head Coach Chris Interone provides a recap: “Sterling had a couple of early chances by Salomon Ocampo, who had a shot, but nailed the crossbar. Pedro Ocampo, Bryan Gutierrez, and Conrado Solis would get some looks, but couldn't get them on frame. It wasn't until Bruno Rodriguez took a shot from just inside the 18-yard line from the left side that bent to the far post and ricocheted into the net - it was a great goal. Bryan Gutierrez would later on get a run onto a ball in the middle and get a clear shot. In the second half, with a 2-0 lead, Efren Diaz was able to gather a rebound in the right corner and crossed it into the middle and it bounced off a Princeton defender for an own goal. The defense today did its job, as well the midfielders possessing well. Goalie Kyle Mason gets his first shutout on home turf."

On the JV level, Sterling lost to Princeton 6-3 with Luis Avendano (1) and Carlos Gallardo (2) scoring goals.

Next Up: The Warriors host Rochelle Thursday (9/2) beginning with the JV game at 4:30 p.m.
