Boys Golf:  Warriors Remain Hot

Make it eight in a row to begin the season for the SHS Boys’ Golf team.  The Golden Warriors improved to 8-0 with a 149-162 win over Kaneland Thursday at Emerald Hill.  It’s the third time this week the Warriors have shot under 150.

Nathan Blackburn continued his strong play for the Warriors with a one-over-par 36 on the front nine at Emerald Hill.  Blackburn fired rounds of 35, 35 and 36 this week.

Andrew Blackburn and Drake Mellott both shot 37, while Sawyer Schrader added a 39 to account for the Warriors’ team total.  Anthony Yarbrough shot a 40, followed by Patrick Petrosky and Brandon Schreiner at 43.

On the JV level, Sterling lost to Kaneland 169-200.  Nick Abele paced Sterling with a 48, followed by Cody Hansen (49), Micah Khuntagta (51) and Zach Rehmert (52.)

Next Up:  The Warriors compete at the Rock Falls Invitational Saturday (9/4) beginning at 8:00 a.m. at Lake View Golf Course in Sterling.
