Boxscore

The SHS Girls Basketball team completed a perfect run through four conference road games in seven days with a dominating 70-25 win at LaSalle-Peru Monday.  The Golden Warriors are now 19-8 overall and 8-1 in the NCIC-Reagan.  They can clinch their eighth conference title in the last 10 years with home-courts wins over Ottawa (2/5) and Dixon (2/9).

Monday’s game was tight through the first four minutes, with the score tied 7-7.  Sterling then exploded, scoring 47 of the game’s next 55 points to take a commanding 54-15 lead near the end of the third quarter.

The 70 points is a season-high for the Golden Warriors, as five players scored at least eight points, led by Lauren Hernandez with 18.  Aleena Hammelman recorded her third double-double of the season with 13-points and 12-rebounds, she also had three assists and six steals.  Jamie Rehmert had 12-points and eight rebounds, while both Sloane Wolfe and Angie Minnick tallied eight points.

Sterling outrebounded LP 41-23 and forced 29 Lady Cavalier turnovers, with 21 coming on steals.

The win upped Sterling's record in road games this season to a perfect 8-0.

On the sophomore level, Sterling downed LP 45-41, to match the varsity’s 8-1 conference record.

Next Up:  The Warriors host Ottawa Friday (2/5) at Musgrove Fieldhouse beginning at 6:00 p.m.  It is game-1 of a girls-boys varsity double-header.
