Boys Basketball:  Warriors Fall at LP

The SHS Boys Basketball team dropped its regular season finale Friday, losing at LaSalle-Peru 51-42.

The Golden Warriors (12-17, 6-6 NCIC-Reagan) were down 11-10 after one, but were outscored 20-9 in the second quarter.  After falling behind by as many as 18 in the second half, Sterling got as close as seven on a couple of occasions in the fourth quarter, but could not get any closer.

LP’s win, coupled with Dixon’s home-court loss to Morris, gives the Cavaliers the undisputed conference championship at 9-3.  Dixon finished 8-4.

Sterling’s sophomore team captured its third straight conference championship by knocking off LP 61-40.  The sophomore Golden Warriors went 10-1 in conference play.

Next Up:  Sterling takes on Geneseo in a class 3A regional quarterfinal Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Geneseo.
