Girls Bowling: Warriors Fourth at Sectionals

The SHS Girls Bowling team was bidding for its second consecutive Sectional championship Saturday, competing at the IHSA Rock Island Sectional. The Warriors repeat bid came up a little short however, as they had to settle for a fourth place finish – missing out on a trip to state by 287 pins.

Sterling ended up with a six-game score of 5162. Dixon claimed the championship with a score of 5483, just edging out the host Rocks. Both Dixon and Rock Island move on to the state finals.

Freshmen Amber Granzow and sophomore Heather Wolf led the way for Sterling with scores of 1117 and 1099. Both remain in contention for at-large individual state finals berths. The at-large qualifiers will be announced Monday.
