Girls Cross Country:  Warriors Run 3rd at Conference

The SHS Girls Cross Country team placed third at the NCIC-Reagan meet, hosted by Sterling Saturday at Hoover Park.  Sterling ended up with 68 points.  Geneseo (27-points) edged Dixon (36 points) for the team title.

Senior Carissa Apperson was Sterling’s top finisher, in ninth place overall in a time of 20:24.  Dixon’s Haley Thorpe was the individual champion in a time of 19:13.

On the frosh-soph level, Sterling went 1-2, with Elizabeth Welch taking first place (22:38) and Alayna Wolfe (22:47) second.

Next Up:  The Warriors host the Sterling FS/JV Invitational Tuesday (10/20) at Hoover Park. Sterling then begins IHSA post-season action Saturday (10/24), running at the Galesburg 2A regional at Lake Storey Park.
