Girls Cross Country:  Warriors Place 14th at Sterling Invite

The SHS Girls Cross Country team placed 14th out of 30 teams at the 60th Annual Sterling Invitational, held Saturday at Hoover Park.  Powerful Schaumberg ran away with the team title with just 29 points after claiming the top three finishes.

Sterling’s best time was turned in by senior Mary Rose Dukelow, who finished 76th overall in a time of 20:57.  Teammates Brittany Ellis (one second behind) and Carissa Apperson (three seconds behind) were right on Dukelow’s heals, finishing in 77th and 78th place respectively.

203 runners took part in the varsity race.

On the frosh-soph level, Sterling placed 10th with Liz Welch turning in the Golden Warriors best time of 22:13 – good enough for 31st place out of 90 runners.

Next Up:  The Golden Warriors host the NCIC meet Saturday (10/17) at Hoover Park.
