Sterling Football Team Leadership Competition

Current Standings

Goals: Team

  • Increase athlete attendance in off-season workouts
  • Develop leaderships abilities at all levels and positions
  • Increase athlete’s strength, speed, quickness, etc.
  • Hold players accountable for actions in all areas of their lives
  • Improve competitive nature of players, while building team unity and camaraderie

Individual Rewards:

  • Increased strength, speed, agility, etc. – the athlete who commits themselves to being involved in this program can expect to see an increase in their athletic abilities
  • Increased sense of team camaraderie
  • Increased competitive nature
  • Improved academic standing
  • Satisfaction of providing community service
Weight Room Attendance:
    • 1 st day of week – 1 pt per person
    • 2 nd day of week – 2 pts per person
    • 3 rd day of week – 3 points per person
    • 4 th day of week - 4 pts per person
  • Competition Day points
    • 1 st – 10, 2 nd – 8, 3 rd – 6, 4 th – 5, 5 th – 4, 6 th – 3, 7 th – 2, 8 th – 0
  • Academics
    • For every A at Midterms and End of 3 rd and 4 th Quarters (+6 Pts)
    • For every B at Midterms and End of 3 rd and 4 th Quarters (+3 Pts)
    • For every C at Midterms and End of 3 rd and 4 th Quarters (+1 Pts)
    • For every D at Midterms and End of 3 rd and 4 th Quarters (-3 Pts)
    • For every F at Midterms and End of 3 rd and 4 th Quarters (-5 Pts)
  • Discipline
    • For every discipline referral of any sort is -5 (Coaches’ discretion may be used in certain cases)
  • Other Sport Participation
    • For every winter or spring sport that the athlete competes in they will be awarded 10 points per in-season practice.
    • For example: a varsity basketball player will receive 10 pts every week from the start of the competition until the season ends. If it were to end at the regional that would be a total of 80 points.
    • A basketball player that lifted 2 times a week with their team would also have that total added every week.
    • This is true for any other school sponsored sport.
  • School Spirit
    • You will be handed a Spirit Card with 10 events on it. For every event, have the administrator or ticket person initial it. When 10 events are completed, hand it in to Coach King and you will earn 2 points for your team. (2 pts per event)
    • All need to be turned in by March 12 th.

  • Plus 2 Days
    • Selected Wednesdays to do Plyos, skills, agilities, etc. 6:15 – 7:00

Points Subtracted in other ways:

  • Athletic Code Violation -100 points
  • Actions detrimental to Sterling Football – points will vary according to coaches’ discretion
    • Being thrown out of a game
    • Not being a gentlemen on and off the field
  • Not performing duties assigned -5 for 1st infraction, -10 for 2 nd infraction, -25 for 3rd
    • Clean up weight room

This competition is a work in progress. Items can be amended or added at coaches’ discretion.

Competition will end on May 26th.

 

Other Important Dates:

Draft – Sunday January 10

1st Prize – January 11 th - March 12 th – Most points/Team Average

2nd Prize – March 13 th - May 26th – Biggest Increase

 

Freshmen draft will take place in the first week of June. Points will start over in the summer.
