Football:  Loos Commits to NIU

Tyler Loos has made his college choice.  The 6’5, 280-pound senior will be staying close to home and playing division-one college football for coach Jerry Kill at Northern Illinois University.

"Tyler is the total package, a great football player and a great student and I couldn't be happier for him," said SHS Coach Greg King. "He had opportunities to go to many different schools, including some in the Ivy League, but NIU is the best fit for him. Their program has established a great tradition and has great coaches. Their staff loves Tyler's combination of size and athleticism."

Loos, a two-time Illinois Football Coaches Association all stater, was a three year starter on the offensive line for the Golden Warriors.  He projects as an offensive lineman for the Huskies as well.

Loos becomes Sterling’s first division-one college football player since Doug Densmore went to Iowa State after graduating in 1995.

Loos will officially sign with the Huskies on National Signing Day February 3.
