Football: Warriors Drop Second Straight Boxscore Offensive inconsistency continues to plague the SHS Football team. The Golden Warriors were held to just 34 yards of total offense and committed three turnovers in the first half in 17-7 loss to Geneseo Friday at Roscoe Eades Stadium. It was the NCIC-Reagan opener for both teams. Sterling moved the ball much more effectively in the second half, but could only convert on one-of-four trips inside the Geneseo 20-yard line. Sterling’s lone touchdown was an a Chevy Bushaw 7-yard run in the third quartrer. Sterling’s defense was solid – allowing just 147 total yards and six first downs. 10 of Geneseo’s points were the direct-result of short-field opportunities after Sterling turnovers. On the sophmore level, Sterling lost 20-14 in overtime. Sterling (1-2) hosts undefeated Johnsburg for Homecoming next Friday. |
