Boys Cross Country:  Landis, McCormick Move on to Sectionals

SHS junior Jacob Landis will be making his third straight trip to the IHSA 2A sectional meet. He will be joined by senior teamate Andrew McCormick, who will be making his first-ever sectional appearance.  The duo earned their sectional spots competing at the Galesburg 2A regional Saturday at Lake Storey Park.

Landis covered the 3.04-mile course in 17:10, which was good enough for fourth place overall. McCormick finished 33rd in a time of 18:48.   Gabe Moreno of Galesburg was the top finisher in 16:46.

Landis and McCormick will now try to qualify for state comepeting at the East Peoria 2A sectional Saturday, October 31. Both are trying to qualify for state for the first time.

Sterling just missed out on qualifying for sectionals as a team, finishing in sixth place.  The top five teams advanced.
