Girls Swimming: Warriors Win Jefferson Invite The SHS Girls Swimming and Diving team once again showed great depth in winning another big invitational Saturday. For the second straight week, the Warriors did not win a single event, but claimed the overall team championship at the 14-team Rockford-Jefferson Invitational. The Warriors tallied 235 points, to edge second place Boylan by six. “This team continues to amaze me,” said SHS Coach Maggie Wike. “They all buy into the team concept we preach and it really paid off the last two weeks.” Sterling won the Freeport Invite the week prior. Individually for Sterling, senior Ann Wolber placed second in the 200-freesyle (1:59.93) and third in the 100-freestyle (55.80). Junior Sophie Borer claimed a second place finish in the 500-freestyle (5:42.87) and a third in the 100-backstroke (1:05.05). Freshman Sarah Wolber was third in the 100-butterfly (1:04.39) with teammate Allie Carbaugh placing fifth (1:06.09).
