Girls Cross Country: Warriors Advance to Sectionals

The SHS Girls Cross Country team placed fourth at Saturday’s IHSA Galesburg 2A Regional and qualified as a team for next week’s sectional meet. The Warriors tallied 108 points, finishing behind regional champion Dixon (30), Geneseo (53) and Dunlap (81). The top five teams qualified for sectionals.

Individually for the Warriors, freshman Carrie McPherson continued her great season with an eighth place finish, covering the 3.04-mile course in 20:21.

Sterling next runs at the East Peoria Sectional Saturday (Nov. 1) at Illinois Central College. The race begins at 10:30 a.m. Runners will be vying for spots in the state finals the following weekend in Peoria.
