Girls Cross Country: Warriors Beat Quad City Foes

The SHS Girls Cross Country team cruised past Moline, United Township and Rock Island Tuesday at Hooover Park in Sterling. Paced by a second place effort from freshman Carrie McPherson, the Warriors tallied a team score of 38 – 16 points better than second place Moline.

“It feels good to come out ahead against schools like United Township, Moline and Rock Island,” said SHS Coach Nancy Gehrke. “This is a good sign for us as we head into the second half of our season. The girls are working really hard to get the 'team' into a better position. We know that it will take an effort by everyone in order to get our scores where we need them to reach our goals for this season. The goal tonight was to get the packs of girls moved up by running even splits and working together. Mission accomplished for this meet and it is even sweeter during the week of Homecoming!”
