Girls First, Boys Sixth at Geneseo Cross Country Invite Despite being without top runner Devon Carbaugh, who was in Sterling taking the ACT, the SHS Girls Cross Country team still managed to win the Geneseo Invitational on September 16. Sterling’s combined girls score of 202 was 92 better than second place Moline. The event utilizes a unique scoring method where freshman, sophomore, junior and senior level races are run. The scores of all four races are then combined to determine the overall winner. Freshman Carissa Apperson (21:31) was Sterling’s lone first place runner. On the boys side, the Warriors had five of their top seven runners taking the ACT. They finished sixth with a combined score of 448. Rock Island won the meet with 294. Drew Rowe continued his fine season win a fourth place effort (17:55) in the senior race. Complete Girls Results
