Cross Country Sweeps Twin City Meet

The SHS Girls and Boys Cross Country teams continued their strong early season runs by both capturing the annual Twin City meet, held on September 12 at Centennial Park in Rock Falls.

On the girls side, Sterling claimed three of the top five places to just edge out Rock Falls 27-28, after beating them by two-points at the Princeton Invitational on September 9. Newman was a distant third with 89.

Devon Carbaugh (2nd), Jackie Sciacero (3rd) and Tasha Romano (5th) paced the Warriors.

The boys had a much easier time, claiming seven of the top 10 places to easily outdistance Rock Falls 21-42. Newman did not field a complete team.

Drew Rowe, Jorden Pitkin, Dane Styczynski and Ben Schott placed second through fifth for the Warriors.
